Post 5 of 5 – The Importance of Your Hosting Configuration and How To Build New Inbound Links To 2338280605_6442ef83e9_mYour Website.

This is part 5 of a series of posts for Website Owners wanting to implement organic SEO for their own website.

Issue 9: Hosting Configuration

Let’s say your target market is the UK. What is the best hosting configuration for your website for this target market?

First of all, if you are registering a new domain name, if at all possible, register with an address in the UK.

Next, register a .co.uk domain name and register it for as long as possible, 10 years if you can.

Next set-up your hosting with a hosting provider in the UK, but make sure that their hosting servers are physically in the UK and not off shored somewhere in India or the US, or Canada.

This is the perfect set-up, but it’s also acceptable to host a .com in the UK and also do well.

Where you are very unlikely to get good ranking for your target country (in this case the UK), is if you have a .com and have registered that domain in another country and have it hosted in another country.

Remember, the search engines are essentially stupid. They cannot infer that you’d like to target a specific country – you have to be very specific.

Issue 10: Rate Of New Inbound Links To Site

What happens when your website goes live for the first time?

Do you let it sit in the corner and gather dust?

Do you magically expect it to start generating leads just because its there?

As you know by now, getting new inbound links to your website from other websites is crucial to getting good visibility and rankings for your keywords. Start as you mean to continue.

Getting a continuing number of new links into your website can help you ranking hugely as the search engines view these websites as more credible.

So, how do you do this? Well, on of the quickest ways is to start leaving comments on industry blogs and creating profiles on relevant forums and starting to comment.

These trails are all indexed by the search engines and can help you to build your incoming links steadily over time.

A website that stops attracting links is going to find it tougher to get that all important page one ranking against a website that has ongoing activity.
