How do you evaluate search engine marketing tools to decide if they can help increase the visibility of your website for your target keywords?

In fact is article marketing worthwhile?

Due to changes in the search engine algorithms you should be careful about submitting articles to hundreds of free article marketing sites. In my view only the top 5% can help your keyword visibility.

If you are seeking lots of additional visitor traffic don’t hold your breath that article marketing will be the answer.

However if you are interested in improving the authority and page ranking of specific web pages containing your keywords than article marketing can be very useful.

The main benefit will come from submitting articles to article websites with the highest possible page rank.

These would include sites such as Blogger and EzineArticles which have very high authority with the search engines.

There are hundreds of article directories and you can buy software tools that can save you tine preparing unduplicated content and submitting to these free article directories.

What Article Sites Should You Target?

The top authority article directory sites have a page rank of 6 or better (Ezine Articles and Blogger.com which is owned by Google would be included in this category)

Some other high ranked sites are, GO Articles, iSnare and Gest Biz

If you are serious about article marketing you can significantly increase the authority of your websiet and drive more traffic if you follow the following process:

1. Write a piece of content or a blog article optimised for your selected keyword
   • Include the keyword at the start of the article title
   • Include the keyword in the description
   • Include the keyword in the anchor text of a link to another relevant page on your website – this should be a landing page aimed at securing your desired call to action.
2. Write a supporting article (must be non duplicate content) optimized in the same way as the target content from your website
3. Submit this to a number of high ranked article directories

Step 3 above can be very time consuming and this is where a software tool can be really useful.
