Survey Reveals Webinars Are Most Popular For Internet Training Delivery

April 8th, 2010 | by BillEgan |

Interleado conducted a recent survey in the social network Linked in.

The objective was to get a dipstick measure of the popularity of the following methods of delivering internet training:

  • Conventional classroom training
  • Online self paced training
  • Interactive coaching through webinars
  • Interactive coaching through tele-seminars
  • Peer group discussion forums

Here is a graphical snapshot of the results to-date:

Althought the sample was relatively small the results lead us to some interesting conclusions as follows:

  • Teleseminars were the least popular at only 3%. I would conclude from this that although interactivity is very much in demand, the lack of visuals is seen as a major disadvantage.
  • The next least popular channel at 7% was peer group discussion forums. From my experience of involvement with discussion forums, I would say that this reflects the lack of real value of forums in general knowledge transfer as opposed to answering a specific question.
  • Traditional Classroom Training and Online Self Paced Learning are seen as more satisfactory options at 23% each.
  • By far the most popular channel was Interactive Coaching Webinars at 42%

Why Should this be?

Well I can only conclude that the combination of interactivity with voice, visual images and remote learning capability are seen as the most powerful way to learn in our current business environment.
